NOVEL DAY for STUDENTS - FRIDAY, MARCH 23

More than 3,500 high school students will have a chance to meet the Literary Feast 2007 authors during Novel Day for Students, sponsored by BankAtlantic. Representatives from each branch of BankAtlantic have partnered with participating Broward County teachers to help with the Novel Day for Students program this year.

There is a short story contest with cash prizes for the winning entries at each school. This year, with thanks to the Sun-Sentinel, students will also be competing for a new $1,000 Sun-Sentinel Short Story Grand Prize. The winners will be announced at
each school by the Novel Day author. The winners will be recognized at Lit LIVE! on March 24 at Nova Southeastern University as well as at the Broward County Literary Fair in May, where cash prizes are distributed.

While 24 schools will host an author at the school, all Broward County high schools will have the opportunity to participate. Students can tune into a lecture by an author thanks to teleconference capabilities provided by the district’s television station, BECON, another Feast sponsor.
