April 5 - PAPA: a one-man play by John deGroot with Adrian Sparks
as Ernest Hemingway. Playwright will answer questions
following the performance.

April 19 & 21 - Florida Stories: Gene Cryer performs stories by Ernest

April 12 - Field Trip! Get on the bus with us at the Main Library at 7:00
a.m. on Saturday, April 21. Destination – Hemingway’s House
in Key West for a tour. Author Stuart McIver will discuss his
book, Hemingway’s Key West, on the ride down. Lunch in Key
West. Return to Main Library at 9:00 p.m. A nominal fee will

2007 Pan African Bookfest -
The Pan African Bookfest is back with more for writers and readers to explore on April 11-21 at the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center featuring book discussions and signings, storytelling, the Haitian Community Arts Program, Hip Hop Spoken Word and others.

Blues School 2007:
Are you ready to get the blues? Then, be a part of Blues School with Special Guest Guy Davis on Saturday, April 14, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. in the African-American Research Library and Cultural Library (AARLCC) Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale. Guy Davis is a critically acclaimed blues musician who plays traditional country blues as well as his own contemporary blues compositions. His album, Legacy was chosen by the music critics of National Public Radio as one of the best albums of 2004. Guy has performed on Late Night with Conan O'Brien as well as Garrison Keillor's nationally syndicated radio program, A Prairie Home Companion.
All programs are FREE and open to he public on a first come, first seated basis.
