Did you know that Broward County Library just broke ground on the new Lauderdale
Lakes Library and Community Educational and Cultural Center on Saturday, March
22, at 10:00 a.m.? The ceremony drew an attendance of 58 people on a Saturday
morning. The new library will be part of a partnership with the City of Lauderdale
Lakes where the second floor of the building will feature a community educational
and cultural center for classes, events, and special programs. The library is located
in the Bella Vista complex -- a mixed-use development built by United Homes with
townhomes, a club house, pool area, and future retail facilities adjacent to the
entrance. The library is centrally located at the entrance of the complex, on the
south side of Oakland Park Boulevard about one block east of 441/State Road 7.
The official ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place in 2009.
