Dates in History
Take a moment (if you’ve got one) to ponder National Time Management Month, take back a shopping cart (February is also Return Shopping Carts to the Supermarket Month) or check out a book in honor of Library Lovers’ Month. Lit lovers can rejoice and celebrate Joyce this month as February 2 is the 125th anniversary of his birth. February is National Black History Month – one way to celebrate is by commemorating the birthdays of civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks (February 4), musical legend Bob Marley (February 6) or the founding of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (February 12).
Say howdy on February 7 – after all it is Wave All Your Fingers At Your Neighbors Day. Heading to the bank? Why not make the trip on February 8, Laugh and Get Rich Day. If you’re alone and loving it, celebrate on Satisfied Staying Single Day (February 11). If you’re alone and looking, celebrate International Flirting Week (February 12 -18) instead.
Make some noise on February 20 – it’s Northern Hemisphere Hoodie-Hoo Day and everyone is expected to head outside at noon to yell “Hoodie-Hoo” in an effort to chase away winter and welcome spring.
