Reduce your Ecological Footprint
(EF) with
Broward
County Library
Using your Broward County Library is a great way to make a difference to the environment in 2008. Instead of purchasing books, CDs, DVDs, newspapers, or magazines, utilize the resources at your Broward County Library. You can read all of the latest best sellers, check out great movies, and find music for everyone in the family. Since most books are read only once, consider sharing materials instead of purchasing your own copies. You can help reduce the impact you directly make by considering how materials affect your ecological footprint. In a recent report from the United Nations, the United States was reported to have the second largest ecological footprint towards the environment. Using your library is a great way to lessen this impact.
Broward County Library also opened the first green building in Broward County in 2007. The South Regional/BCC Library, located in Pembroke Pines, offers an environmentally friendly building with drought-resistant landscaping, strategically placed windows, and low-emission construction materials. The library was awarded a silver rating from the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™.
