Free services and resources make using your library a smart choice.

With today’s economy, everyone’s looking to save a dollar (or two, or more…), cutting back on extras and seeking ways to stretch their paycheck farther than ever. One good thing – visit your library and you don’t have to compromise.

Readers can count on Broward County Library for the hottest bestsellers and latest magazines (your library carries hundreds of titles) – if BCL doesn’t have the book you need, they’ll order it from another library. If you’re interested in reading book reviews, author interviews, and receiving online recommendations on books you might like, Broward County Library has a free online service, Bookletters, that lets you select your favorite genres, get previews of soon-to-be-released books, and get e-mailed information directly to your inbox.

You can also use the library’s Web site to place holds on items or renew checked-out materials.

Love movies? Skip the expensive night out or even DVD rental fees and check out free feature films from your local library; BCL gets the latest movies almost as soon as they’re released on DVD including documentaries, foreign films and Hollywood blockbusters. Visit www.broward.org/library to sign up for free e-mail updates from BCL – they’ll deliver details on the newest, hottest DVDs available to you.
