Spotlight of the Month

Broward County Library’s Dedication Ceremony on Friday, October 26 for the new West Regional Library drew in a record-breaking crowd of 473 people. The spacious, two-story library is a 72,000 square-foot facility with a new two-story parking garage adjacent to the building.

Community leaders welcomed the crowd before the official ribbon was cut. After the ceremony, customers quickly began roaming the spacious aisles with plenty of room to browse through the latest titles and newest movies. Customers also flocked to the 100 public use computers with Internet access.

The new building design includes three group study rooms, five tutoring rooms, one Youth Services room, and one multi-purpose room with capacity for 250 people. The entire building is also a wireless hotspot, so customers can bring their own laptops.

The new West Regional Library is conveniently located at 8601 West Broward Boulevard in Plantation -- just east of the intersection of Broward Boulevard and Pine Island Road. The library is open seven-days-a-week:

 • Monday through Thursday: 9am to 9pm
 • Friday and Saturday: 10am to 6pm
 • Sunday: 1pm to 5pm
