The Library of Congress showcased its New Web Site at Broward County Library
On Friday, September 19, Broward County Library was the first library location in the United States to debut the new interactive Web site for the Library of Congress.
Director of the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress, John Y. Cole, welcomed a packed auditorium highlighting the features and intriguing aspects of the Library of Congress. Customers, librarians, and sixth grade students from Plantation Middle School were the first to view this new interactive experience.

Matt Raymond, the Director of Communications for the
Library of Congress showed a special eight minute clip
that is part of the collector’s series edition of National
Treasure 2. This segment gives viewers an insider’s view
of the Library of Congress with special commentary and
unrestricted access.
The New York Times best-selling author Barbara Parker
discussed her quest in researching her 2007 book, The
Perfect Fake. She explained to students the technology
the Library of Congress has to ensure materials are
genuine and any forgeries or facsimiles are caught in
their high-tech laboratory.

at the Library of Congress, presented the new Web site
to the audience asking the students questions about
their interests in researching information online.
The new Web site offers unprecedented online entrance
to view items at the Library of Congress. Check out the Featured Highlights, Thomas Jefferson’s Library, or the online activity of rewriting the rough draft of the Declaration of Independence.
