eBooks are a valuable resources offering a wide variety of books in an electronic format. At Broward County Library, it is easier than ever to use eBooks. Simply look for eBooks in the library’s online catalog. eBooks are noted with a eBook on the right side of the entry.

Benefits of eBooks

eBooks can be instantly accessed. Instead of placing a hold or visiting your local library, you can click on the URL in the library’s catalog and instantly access the electronic version of the library materials.

Additional Features

Under a Contents tab, the Table of Contents will appear for the entire material. Other features include Knowledge Tools offering customers the ability to search using different encyclopedias, several search engines, and even an atlas. The Dictionary feature offers the immediate ability to look up word without going to a different Web site.

eBooks offer an incredible feature with the Search tool. Instead of looking through the index or searching chapter to chapter for keywords, type in a word or phrase and the Search tool will find all of the pages with this information.

eBooks that are of interest can be added to a My Favorites section where the online service even has the image of the book jacket listed for quick recognition. And, the Notes feature can be used for special comments to mark where information was found, feedback, or even reminders.

Languages

A wide array of languages are available for users. At the bottom of the screen, the text indicates “Select your interface language.” The online service is available in Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, and Dutch.

How to I Sign Up?

To access these materials, first a free NetLibrary account must be established. If you are at a Broward County Library location, simply enter the following information on the online form: username, password, security question and answer, first name, last name and e-mail address.
