Where Fairy Tales Came True!

A collection of fairy tale characters paraded through the grounds of the Southwest Regional Library in Pembroke Pines on November 18. The StoryBook Festival featured folktales, a puppet show, a pirate show, book giveaways, some singing and dancing, a giant gecko with a flicking red tongue, origami stories and a Magic Forest.
There were free book tables, craft stations, a story telling tent, an outdoor stage, and an indoor theater. There was also a marketplace to purchase colorful ribbons for princesses and very flexible swords for pirates, and there were vendors offering tasty hot dogs, hamburgers, pretzels and lemonade.
The yearly event was held as a celebration of National Children's Book Week. It was funded by the Broward Public Library Foundation, with additional support from The Miami Herald, the City of Pembroke Pines, Broward Family Magazine and Friends of the Southwest Regional Library.
