Of Learning
Volunteering at Broward County Library means giving the most precious gift of all - your time.
Volunteering is a chance to give something back to one of your community's most valuable resources, the library. Whether you want the chance to make a difference in someone's life, make friends and have fun, or earn valuable community service hours and professional experience, the library is a place where you can share your skills and better your world.
Volunteers are an integral part of Broward County Library. In 2006, volunteers contributed over 90,000 hours of service doing everything from tutoring to leading library tours to shelving books. Whatever your interest or skill, whether you can spare a few days or just a few hours, Broward County Library welcomes you.
Volunteer Opportunities
With 37 library locations throughout Broward County, there are plenty of options - volunteer close to home or near your job, wherever it's convenient. And with a variety of operating hours, you can pick the hours that fit your schedule. Giving has never been this easy!

Teens & Special Events
Along with the day-to-day activities at the library, teens have the chance to participate as volunteers in a number of award-winning special events and programs. Each year, Broward County Library holds two major events that celebrate children and reading, the Children's BOOKFEST in April and the StoryBook Festival in November. At these fun-filled happenings, teens can help with games and activities, dress as costumed characters, assist library staff - and get a free t-shirt!
Teen Advisory Board
If you're interested in being a leader in the library, join the Teen Advisory Board. Almost every Broward Library location has one, and they provide valuable input on teen programs and events as well as the selection of books and other materials.
