Question: Why did the chicken cross the road?

Answer: To get to the other side!

But without the work of the MPO, there might not have been a road
for the chicken to cross!

Where do roads come from?
In Broward County, roads and fun stuff for kids, like bicycle paths and green places to play and walk are all organized into a big list. The big list is called the Long Range Transportation Plan, or LRTP for short, and this list shows all of the projects that the County wants to get done in the next 25 years!

Even though that is a very long time before everything gets done, the Broward County MPO keeps making sure that the list is updated to suit the needs of all of the people. Your mommy, daddy, grandmother or aunt each have a voice when it comes to making sure the list meets the needs of the people who live here!
Isn't that cool?

Who decides which road projects are important to the County and how do they get paid for?
The People decide what is important! They let their elected officials know by writing letters, speaking to them at public meetings, sending emails and other ways of communicating what is needed in a community.
