Chic and Egg    
On Tour

 

schoolChic, Egg, and Buddy have been having fun visiting elementary schools in Broward County. At each school on the tour, they play games that help students Chic and Egglearn about how our transportation planning process works. They also enjoy giving special prizes to the students.

Many students are surprised to find out that they can help make decisions about all kinds of transportation; bicycle paths, sidewalks, roads, bridges, even commuter trains. They also learn about transportation jobs.

  

My first stop on the 2008-2009 Broward MPO School Outreach Tour was really special to me! I was able to visit the students who participate in Welleby Elementary school’s aftercare program. My friends from the Broward MPO and I visited both 2nd and 3rd grade students at Welleby, and boy, were they smart. By the end of the first visit, we decided “where the road goes” and the students got the basic understanding of the decisions that the Broward MPO members have to make all the time! During the follow-up presentation, these 2nd and 3rd graders were really on their game. In addition to turning in their homework on time, they had many stories to share with our Team Leader, Ms. Scarlette.
