ANNE KOLB NATURE CENTER / STRATEGIES FOR SURVIVAL

For all ages. Fee: $3/person.

DEERFIELD ISLAND PARK / ISLAND BOAT SHUTTLE SERVICE
Saturdays and Sundays, hourly from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
For all ages. Free.
Individuals and families wishing to visit the island can catch the shuttle from Sullivan Park (on Riverview Road at the Intracoastal Bridge). The last return shuttle departs the island at 4 p.m. Visitors can walk the park's two trails (trail guide maps are available at the gazebo next to the marina) and enjoy the park's picnic grills and tables. Soda machines are also available. For more information, call Quiet Waters Park at 954-360-1315.

EXTENSION EDUCATION SECTION / TREE TRIMMER CERTIFICATION CLASSES
By reservation.
For adults. Fee: $55/person
for a four-hour class.
The Extension Education Section offers a four-hour class in tree trimming. Successful completion
of one class will fulfill the training requirement necessary for obtaining or renewing the Broward County Commercial Tree Trimmer's license. Participants must preregister and prepay for the scheduled classes;
no walk-ins accepted. The registration form and current schedules can be obtained at www.broward.org/extension.

FERN FOREST NATURE CENTER / NATURE TOTS
Thursday, April 9, 10 to 11 a.m.
For ages 2 to 4 accompanied by an adult. Fee: $3/person.
Kids and their parents can join a Broward County Parks naturalist and learn about nature through stories, songs, arts and crafts, and more. Theme and activities vary each month. Preregistration is required. This event is also being offered at the same time at Secret Woods Nature Center on Thursday, April 16 and Thursday, April 23 at Long Key Natural Area and Nature Center. LONG KEY NATURAL AREA AND NATURE CENTER / EARTH DAY: PROJECT RECYCLE
Wednesday, April 22, 4 to 5 p.m.
For all ages. Fee: $3/person.
Help Long Key Natural Area and Nature Center celebrate Earth Day by bringing in recycled materials. A naturalist will help you use your imagination to create pieces of art, animal habitats, and anything else you can imagine from the items you bring with you. Preregistration is required by April 14. SECRET WOODS NATURE CENTER / WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP
Sunday, April 19, 1 to 2 p.m.
For all ages. Free.
Try your hand at watercolors with this free, guided painting workshop focusing on natural objects in the park. Bring your own supplies. For further information, call the nature center at 954-791-1030.
