For adults. Fee: $5/person to the Friends of the Anne Kolb Nature Center.
Today's presentation, Okavango: Wild Swamps of Africa, will be presented by Ron Magill of Miami Metrozoo, as he shares images and stories of the magnificent and amazing wildlife of the Okavango Delta in Botswana. Preregistration is required by November 6. A complimentary lunch will be provided. This series is offered once a month through January 2010. DEERFIELD ISLAND PARK / ECOACTION DAY
Saturday, November 21, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
For all ages. Free.
Volunteers can clean up trash, plant native plants, and/or remove non-native invasive plants. Students can earn community service hours for graduation and college scholarships, and others can help improve and preserve the environment. Volunteers should dress appropriately with long sleeves, long pants, and closed-toe shoes that can get dirty. Participants should bring gloves, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and drinking water. Extra tools such as shovels, rakes, and hand pruners are welcome. A volunteer form must be filled out in order to participate. (This event will also be offered at Fern Forest Nature Center on Saturday, November 7, at Secret Woods Nature Center on Saturday, November 14, and at Anne Kolb Nature Center on Saturday, November 21. FERN FOREST NATURE CENTER / NATURE LECTURE SERIES
Sundays, November 15, 22, and 29, 2 to 3 p.m.
For all ages. Fee: $3/person.
Lectures last approximately one hour and will be followed by a question-and-answer session. Topics include snakes and spiders; amphibians and reptiles; and dangerous plants, animals, and insects. Live animals will be used to emphasize the lecture topic, but there will be no handling of animals by the public. For more information, call the nature center at 954-970-0150.

SECRET WOODS NATURE CENTER / ECO-CRAFT FAIR
