CREATURES OF THE SWAMP HIKE
Saturday, October 31, 10 to 11 a.m.

DEERFIELD ISLAND PARK / ISLAND BOAT SHUTTLE SERVICE
Saturdays and Sundays, hourly from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
For all ages. Free.
Individuals and families wishing to visit the island can catch the shuttle from Sullivan Park (on Riverview Road at the Intracoastal Bridge). The last return shuttle departs the island at 4 p.m. Visitors can walk the park's two trails (trail guide maps are available at the gazebo next to the marina) and enjoy the park's picnic grills and tables. Soda machines are also available. For more information, call Quiet Waters Park at 954-360-1315.

FERN FOREST NATURE CENTER / GHOSTS AND GOBLINS FAMILY FUN NIGHT
Friday, October 30, 6 to 8 p.m.
Ages 2 to 11 accompanied by an adult. Free (nominal fees for crafts and photographs).
Activities include a costume parade, games and prizes, arts and crafts (nominal fee), photos in the Pumpkin Patch (nominal fee), and age-appropriate storytime (8 p.m.). Refreshments will be available for purchase. For more information, call the nature center at 954-970-0150.

LONG KEY NATURAL AREA AND NATURE CENTER / NATURE TOTS
Thursday, October 22, 10 to 11 a.m.
Ages 2 to 4 accompanied by an adult.
Fee: $3/child.
Kids and their parents can join a park naturalist and learn about nature through stories, songs, arts and crafts, and more. Theme and activities vary each month. Preregistration is required at this nature center by October 21. The same program is also offered at the same time on October 8 at the Fern Forest Nature Center and on October 15 at Secret Woods Nature Center. SECRET WOODS NATURE CENTER / NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE DAY
Saturday, October 17, 10 a.m. to
2 p.m.
For all ages. Free.
Join us for storytelling and activities beginning at 10 a.m. followed by an informative lecture focusing on Native American heritage presented by the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum, Seminole Tribe of Florida. The Broward County Libraries will supply a bibliography for further research and information. For more information, call the nature center at 954-791-1030.
