Concert GreenConcert Green

Many people know this park as the home of the annual Chili Cook-off event. If you plan on staging a large special event for about 5,000 to 25,000 people, there's room at C.B. Smith. The Concert Green has a 32 by 48-foot stage and an open-air amphitheater for up to 5,000 people. The Special Events Field is available for up to 25,000 people. Please check with the park for availability of dates and other requirements when planning a special event.

Other Amenities

Many patrons come here because it is a great place to fish (except in the marina area). You can fish from the shore, from the pier, or even fish from a rented boat. C.B. Smith also has a Safety Town — a miniature two-block village designed to teach children pedestrian and bike safety — and a Racquet Center with tennis and racquetball courts. There's even a R.V. campground. Click here for a map of the campground (PDF -179.60).

And if all this still isn't enough recreation for you, C.B. Smith also has one basketball court, a biking/jogging path, several playgrounds and a few areas for volleyball and horseshoes. There are no fees charged to use any of these areas (except park admission) and you can either bring your own equipment or rent it at the park office.

There are lots of picnic areas and shelters with grills and picnic tables for your gatherings. Park patrons can ride their own bikes on paths throughout the park or rent boats to tour the more than 80 acres of lakes. There are canoes, paddle boats, and john boats available. You must be at least 18 years old to sign a rental contract, and no one under the age of 12 may use a boat without an adult also in the boat.

A little history of the park...The land was acquired in 1959 from the federal government, which had used the property as a firing range for a gunnery school during World War II.  It was known as Snake Creek Park and then renamed in 1967 after former Broward County and City of Hollywood Commissioner Charles Barney Smith.
