"Barkham at Markham" Dog Park

Barkham makes dogs happy!Markham Park has an area of the park fenced off and available only to dogs and their owners.  Barkham at Markham was specially designed for canines to play leash free.  Please view the Code of Conduct  (PDF -88KB) before visiting the park.

Barkham at Markham is located just west of the entrance to Markham Park in Sunrise. It consists of approximately three acres of landscaped space, divided into two areas. One section is for large dogs (“Big Barkhams”) and the other area is for small dogs (“Little Barkhams”).

This was the first dog park in Broward County that utilized Bermuda sod, providing a smooth and even grassy surface for running, walking, and playing.

The canine owners have not been overlooked either. There are 8-foot-wide asphalt paths for people to walk or jog with their pets. Three shelters provide resting areas.  Two of the shelters have refrigerated water fountains for owners. Dogs have their own fountains in designated areas.

The park also provides a dog wash area common to both small and large dogs. Within the large dog section, there is an additional washing area ideal for bathing the bigger breeds. The Dog Park is fully ADA accessible.

Barkham at Markham operates during the same hours as Markham Park.  For more information, call the park at 954-389-2000.
