Lafayette Hart Park
Nesteled within the neighborhood, this 1.14-acre park was originally known as Washington Park when it first opened in 1974. Leading the efforts to establish a park in the area was one of the leaders of the Washington Park Civic Association -- Lafayette Hart. After Hart died in 1989, the community rallied and asked the Broward County Commission to rename the park in honor of Lafayette Hart. In 1992, the park was rededicated and named Lafayette Hart Park.
This park may be small but it remains a safe-popular haven for the neighborhood children and adults to meet, play, and socialize on a daily basis.
Park amenities include:
The park offers a free after-school program for ages 6 to 15, as well as a summer recreation program.
