Nature Centers
Interpretive displays in the exhibit buildings provide information about each nature center's plant and animal residents. Nature-oriented programs for school and scout groups and other organizations are available by reservation and cover a variety of topics tailored to different age groups. Scheduled public nature walks are offered weekly from October through May. Reservations are required.

Mangrove Masterpiece –
Explore the Nature Center with a guided exhibit hall tour and investigate the fascinating mangrove ecosystem. Then hop aboard our U.S. Coast Guard-inspected 25-passenger covered boat for a narrated tour of the tidal creeks and open waters of West Lake. Two hours, $3 per camper. Group size: 10-100 persons. Larger groups require special arrangements.

Wetland Wonders –
Get to know the critters of the wetland up close and personal when you explore this valuable habitat. One or two hours, $3 per hour. Max #: 40 participants.
Nature Explorers –
With a guided walk and a hands-on activity, come learn about nature's fascinating details. This is a fun way to learn about nature's secrets. One or two hours, $3 per hour. Max #: 40 participants.
Bugs, Ferns, and Snakes. Oh My! –

Butterfly Scavenger Hunt –
Search for the stages of the butterfly life cycle as you explore Secret Woods and the New River Trail. One or two hours, $3 per hour. Max #: 60 participants.
Animal Olympics –
Have fun while learning about the lives of endangered animals by participating in a trail walk to see the evidence of wildlife and competing in a field day Animal Olympics. Two hours, $3 per hour. Max #: 60 participants.
