Petapalooza

The annual Petapalooza event is normally held in March at Markham Park. You and your companion pet will not want to miss it. This event, sponsored by COAST (FM 97.3), has everything a pet-person desires. Past years have included the following:

  • Off-Leash Doggie Playground
  • Pet Adoptions
  • Pet Psychic
  • K-9 Sports Frisbee and Fly Ball
  • Microchip Clinic
  • Ask the Trainer (meet trainers who conduct classes in our parks)
  • Vendors, exhibitors, speakers
  • The Magnificent Mutt Contest Finale
  • Entertainment
  • Kids Dance Contest
  • Pet Massage Demos
  • Pet Look-Alike Contest
  • Pet Photos
  • Doggie Ice Cream and Goodies
  • Meet agency representatives from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and local municipalities, code enforcement officers, mounted police and their horses, Animal Care and Regulation Division, and the Humane Society
  • Family Fun

Families can enjoy two fun-filled days of activities, including the “barking” children! This is a FREE event for everyone, although gate admission is $1 per person (except children under age 5).

If you are looking for a pet, this event will provide you with a one-stop pet adoption opportunity as there will be many rescue groups and animal agencies on hand with homeless companions looking for a family to love.

Dog owners can treat their pets at the Doggie Fun Zone, Off-Leash Area, and Splash and Dash Pools. Top canine trainers will be available for pet behavior questions and a microchip clinic will be set up for those wishing to protect their furry loved ones from being lost and alone in the future.

Markham Park is located in Sunrise at State Road 84 and Weston Road. Leashes and county licenses are required for all pets on site. No exotic animals, please.
