Plea for Foster Homes!

If you are interested in becoming a foster parent/family for a homeless husky, please fill out a foster application from the South Florida Siberian Husky Rescue, which can be found at their Website www.sibrescue.com. If you have questions prior to filling out the application, you may contact their rescue program administrator for more details via rescue@sibrescue.com. They have unwanted Siberian huskies coming in almost every day via owner surrenders and Good Samaritans who find strays; plus, there are almost always a couple of huskies in the local shelters. The Rescue would like to take in all these cases, but they need your help! Foster parents offer guidance, training, and most importantly love to these beautiful furry souls in order to make them adoptable. A foster home is the best gift that you can donate to their organization! Please spread the word; they are in dire need now.

Foster Homes Needed Desperately for Dogs and Cats
(Posted week of 10/22/2006)

A message from Grateful Paws Dog & Cat Rescue Inc.

It has been proved that a dog or a cat living in a kennel doesn't prosper as well or get adopted as quickly as one living in a private home, so by choice, we do not have a shelter. We operate exclusively through the foster home program, and our ability to help that next dog or cat depends on whether we have a vacant and willing foster home to place him/her when we get the call.

REMEMBER—we pay for or provide everything. It costs you nothing. We provide the food, flea and tick prevention, and a crate if necessary, as well as any necessary vet visits. Each of our foster pets has been thoroughly vetted and tested before coming to your home. All we ask is that you make the pet available for our adoption events, usually on a Saturday.

Our ability to rescue that next dog or cat depends on whether we have a vacant foster home handy. Every day we get calls and e-mails asking us to take "found and surrendered" animals. And when we turn them down, they are most likely taken to a kill shelter or turned loose in the Everglades. We are great at finding new forever homes, but we need someplace for them to live while we are doing our "magic."

DO THE RIGHT THING. Thousands of perfectly wonderful pets are euthanized because there just aren't enough homes for them. We know we can't save them all, but with your help we are saving what we can, one at a time. If you have room in your heart and in your home, please consider being a foster parent. In most cases, the care will last a month or so, and depending on the dog might be less. We end up rescuing dogs and cats of all sizes, breeds, and ages, and work hard to match you to the perfect pet for your home and lifestyle. And the best part is that our foster parents get first choice if they decide to adopt!

For information on our foster program, please contact Grateful Paws Rescue, 954-462-8840, evenings after 8 p.m., or e-mail gratefulpaws@bellsouth.net.

Thanks.
