Pine Island Ridge Natural Area

Habitat: The upland hardwood forest or hammock is now the major vegetative community with a canopy dominated by live oak trees with some remnant slash pines.

Vegetation: Live oaks, slash pine, hackberry, marlberry, wild coffee, beauty berry, swamp fern, and giant sword fern.

Wildlife: Gopher tortoise, great horned owl, migratory warblers, red-bellied and pileated woodpeckers, cooper’s hawk, and atala butterfly.

Amenities: Concrete path was installed from Tree Tops Park that leads to an interpretive shelter on the ridge. Equestrian trails on the site link Tree Tops Park with West Ridge, a Town of Davie park. Interpretive signage.
