Nature Trail
With the help of volunteer organizations, the 3,500-foot nature trail is being restored to its natural landscape. Volunteers have helped remove invasive species and plant native trees and shrubs helping to transform this six-acre natural area to its true beauty. Historical records show that the western side of the area was once a slough -- a swamp-like depression, which transformed the surrounding pinelands into cypress and red maple trees. The nature trail is open during park hours to all ages. Pets are not allowed. People interested in volunteering on the nature trail can inquire at the park office or call 954-357-5113.

Quiet Waters Geocache Map

The park offers limited quantities of a variety of sports equipment, available at the park office on a first-come, first-served basis only to those renting shelters or campsites.

A Little History
Using funds from the 1978 bond issue, Broward County acquired this 431.4-acre property in the early 1980s from Houdaille, a major dredge-and-fill contractor that used the site essentially as a "borrow pit." The proposed name of Lakeview Park was abandoned in favor of Quiet Waters by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners. The park opened to the public in March 1983. Splash Adventure, an interactive children's water playground, opened in the southeast corner of the park in 1995.

Wildlife
This park is home to wildlife. If you have questions regarding wildlife or wish additional information, please call the park number above. The following safety tips are recommended for our guests: 1. Be aware of your surroundings and avoid the water's edge. 2. Alligators, snakes, and other animals live in this area. 3. Do not approach, feed, or taunt alligators, snakes, or other wildlife. 4. Pets, where permitted, must be on a leash no longer than six feet. 5. No swimming or wading except in designated areas. 6. Use common sense while in this park.
