Sunview Park

Aerial photo of Sunview ParkThis location was originally a 21.5-acre rock pit that was only eight feet above sea level at its lowest point and was referred to as Big Hole Park.

The park became a center of athletic and recreational activity after the Broward County Commission leased it in 1963 to the Southwest Athletic Association, a non-profit volunteer group. The park took its current name from its Sun-View Recreation Building, which was provided by the Broward County Port Authority.
