Tall Cypress Natural Area

Habitat: Last remaining stands of basin swamp and pine flatwoods.

Vegetation: Dense canopy of cypress trees transitioning to slash pines, interspersed with willow and pond apple stands, saw palmetto thickets and sabal palm heads, slash pine, red maple, swamp lily, strangler fig, sword and leather ferns, soft-leaved wild coffee, and beauty berry.

Wildlife: Great horned owl, red-bellied and pileated woodpeckers, great egret, little blue heron, white peacock, malachite, gulf fritillary and Julia butterflies, and box turtles.

Amenities: Boardwalk, shelter, concrete trail, and interpretive signage.
