Gazebo by the lakeThe Seminole Indian name of this 150-acre urban park, Topeekeegee Yugnee, means “meeting or gathering place,” and the park’s comprehensive makeover makes it a more welcoming place than ever. T.Y. is well known for its shady picnic areas, numerous shelters, and a gazebo that is often booked for an exchange of wedding vows.

Recent improvements at T.Y. include the new zero-entry swimming pool that is a hard-bottom pool.  This pool replaces the original sand-bottom lagoon. Campers will appreciate the totally revamped campground, which now has 61 RV sites with full hookups and a new restroom/shower/laundry complex. Reservations need to be made in advance for the campground, especially during the winter, as the campground does get full.New campground at T.Y. Park

Other improvements include two freestanding restroom buildings, new basketball courts, playground fencing, a new gatehouse, repaved roadways throughout the park, and new trees to replace those taken out by the storms of 2005.

Especially popular with patrons is the two-mile loop of newly paved pathways for walking, jogging, skating, and biking. Plants to attract butterflies have also been installed along the park’s northern corridor.

The swim lagoon is adjacent to the park’s Castaway Island water playground complex, which features two pools, a picnic area, a concession stand, and restrooms. The nearby marina, which is now ADA-accessible, offers several kinds of boats for rent.

T.Y. also has three large picnic shelters (90+ capacity), seven medium shelters (40+), and one small shelter (20+), all with water, electricity, grills, and tables.  Patrons must reserve the use of the shelters in advance.  A cash security deposit is required on the day of use to ensure that patrons clean up the shelter area. There are several covered play areas and a special children's play area called Safety Town.  Safety Town is a miniature two-block village designed to teach pedestrian and bicycle safety to children.Covered play area at T.Y.

The basketball courts, volleyball courts, play areas and picnic tables scattered throughout the park are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.  On a typical weekend or holiday, you must get there early to get the best spots!

The gate admission on weekends and holidays is $1.50 per person for everyone over age 5.  During the week, there is no gate admission to enjoy T.Y. Park and all the wonderful recreation opportunities there are within the park.
