The Department of Urban Planning and Redevelopment (DUPR) staff has built an econometric model, which projects selected Broward County revenues. Since Broward County is part of the larger South Florida region, the DUPR staff is also working on the development of a regional economic model. The model is being developed with the cooperation of a number of regional partners, including the South Florida Regional Planning Council, the Treasure Coast Planning Council, the South Florida Water Management District, and Miami-Dade, Martin, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie Counties. The partners meet periodically to discuss economic data and insights about the South Florida region. The partners share their demographic and economic data to use as input to the nationally-known Regional Economic Model, Inc. (REMI). The partners will use the REMI to assess the fiscal impacts of new businesses and changing demographics in the region.

The State of The Broward Economy

Semiannually, the DUPR staff produces a State of the Broward Economy report, which provides insights on the national economic picture and its impacts on the Broward County economy. These reports provide an overview of economic activity in Broward County and highlight emerging issues and growing trends.

Vision Broward

Vision Broward is a community economic development partnership, undertaken by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, the Broward Alliance, the Broward Workshop, and the project's facilitators, Nova Southeastern University. The visioning process involved hundreds of groups of individuals that took part in this public/private initiative that solicit opinions and contributions from private businesses, the educational community, local governments, community organizations, and the public. The community visioning process to chart the future course of Broward County resulted in a final plan of recommended action steps designed to promote the continued development and redevelopment of Broward County.
