Prepare for a pleasant voyage from Port Everglades by following a few simple travel tips.
Departing Passengers (Embarkation)
- Call ahead. It's a good idea to contact your cruise line before arriving at Port Everglades to verify your schedule and terminal information. This is especially important if severe weather threatens.
- Cruise lines ask that you board at least two hours prior to departure. However, most do not begin processing embarking passengers before 11 a.m.
- Bring a government issued photo ID. You will need to pass through a security checkpoint to enter Port Everglades. Please be prepared to present a photo ID for everyone in the vehicle over 18, as well as travel documents for departing passengers.
- KEEP YOUR IDENTIFICATION AND CRUISE TICKETS HANDY -- NOT IN YOUR LUGGAGE.
- Assist security. Heightened security measures at the Port help ensure your safety. Please cooperate with security personnel to expedite boarding.
- WEAPONS ARE NOT PERMITTED INSIDE THE PORT. For further information, click here.
- Tag your luggage. You may give your luggage to porters at your ship's terminal for delivery to your stateroom. Be sure to complete and affix the baggage tags provided by your cruise line.
- Carry valuables. Carry on any valuables, breakables, personal items and medications.
- Keep your tickets, passport and ID ready.
- Follow signs. Directional signs with ship names and terminal assignments are updated daily. Escalators and elevators offer convenient access to your ship.
Returning Passengers (Disembarkation)
- Await shore leave. Passengers are typically not allowed ashore until several hours after the ship's arrival time. Please plan accordingly.
- Visit U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Upon arrival in port, all baggage is brought to the Customs area for inspection.
- Consider porter service. After inspection, you may use porter services to deliver your bags to private cars, taxis, and limousines or to baggage trucks for direct delivery to the airport. Tipping is optional.
- Park in garages. Private automobiles picking up passengers should park in parking garages until returning passengers have arrived in the customs area. Once the entire party and all belongings are located, the driver may move the vehicle to the terminal for convenient loading.
- If you have a late flight, extend your vacation with a tour of Greater Fort Lauderdale. Most of the cruise lines offer post-cruise shore excursions that take care of your transportation and luggage.
