The Broward County Health Department, funded by state, county and federal governments, serves to promote, protect, maintain and improve the health and safety of all Broward County citizens and visitors. The Health Department works in collaboration with public and private partners to assure a healthy community.

Health services provided include:

• immunization
• pregnancy testing
• family planning
• Healthy Start
• school health
• supplemental nutrition program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC)
• nutrition education
• dental
• sexually transmitted diseases
• HIV/AIDS
• Tuberculosis
• hepatitis screening
• travel medicine
• breast and cervical cancer screening

Environmental health services include:

• investigation of sanitary nuisance complaints
• inspection of radiation-producing equipment and materials
• onsite sewage treatment and disposal systems
• inspection of public swimming pools and bathing places
• consulting on indoor air problems for private residences
• inspection of institutional food service facilities including schools, hospitals, nursing homes, child care centers, mobile home parks and jails
• sanitation and safety inspections at child and adult foster homes, adult living facilities and businesses generating biochemical wastes

Visit www.browardchd.org to order birth and death certificates. Online services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All requests are processed the same day. Please allow 3 to 5 business days for arrival. Along with the cost of the certificate, a shipping and handling fee is required.  Express service is available for an additional fee. To visit in person, Vital Statistics is open from 8:00 AM until 4:30PM.  To order by phone call toll free (866) 830-1906 and by fax, (866) 695-1917.
