The mission of the Cultural Division is to (1) enhance the community's cultural environment through development of the arts in Broward County; (2) act as a liaison between the County and other governmental agencies on cultural matters; (3) act as a liaison with private art and culture groups; (4) make recommendations for legislation to the Broward County Board of County Commissioners; (5) promote an aesthetic and cultural environment in the community; and (6) purchase works of art for County facilities.

Services provided by the Cultural Division include public information, grants to not-for-profit cultural organizations, artists' fellowships, Public Art and Design Program for County facilities, cooperative marketing of cultural events, Cultural Quarterly fine arts magazine, a bi-monthly enewsletter, Arts Education Program, and technical assistance and workshops for cultural organizations and individual artists. The Cultural Division also refers artists and cultural organizations to ArtServe, a not-for-profit arts service organization dedicated to assisting other not-for-profit cultural organizations with their business, legal and financial needs.

The web site, www.broward.org/arts, offers online versions of all the Division's publications, and informative explorations of other services, including:

• a virtual tour of more than 200 works in the Public Art and Design Program
• a searchable Cultural Calendar database
• a searchable  Arts in Education directory
• a searchable Cultural Directory of 550 not-for-profit cultural organizations
• an online "Manage Your Grant" program for the more than 80 grantees and potential grantees
• an online ticketing portal

The Cultural Information Center on the first floor of the Main Library is a one-stop shop for information on cultural opportunities in Broward County, tickets to arts events and creative gifts, the ArtServe Gallery and Gift Shop is on the second floor and gallery six is a free art gallery on the sixth floor.
