The mission of the Elderly and Veterans Services Division is to empower elders, veterans and their families to improve their quality of life through supports that promote self-sufficiency and aging in place. This is achieved through the implementation of a community service support system guided by the principles of empowerment, individualization, non-discrimination, personal choice, and enhancement of natural supports. The Division strives to prevent or delay the institutionalization of disabled elders by providing community-based programmed services, which respect an individual's right to make decisions that affect their lives, and allow elders to continue to reside in the community and engage in meaningful activities. In addition, the Division operates a Volunteer Program.
