This Division is responsible for monitoring and evaluating human services provided by not-for-profit and for-profit community agencies through contracts with Broward County.

The Division's research and program development activities facilitate improvements in health, housing, human and community development services. The Division conducts community needs assessments and pertinent research as a prelude to developing training and monitoring the department's business plan. Through its Training Academy, it provides training and technical assistance to strengthen community services provision.
 
Staff conducts certification reviews of human services agencies to ensure the achievement of minimum administrative and programmatic thresholds, and to promote high performance standards in the provider community. They maintain a central repository of contracts and related documents for the Human Services Department. The Division also assists the department and community in identifying and securing federal, state and foundation funds for the provision of human services in Broward County.

In partnership with community organizations, this division provides convenient access to human services for Broward County residents. Through its Family Success Centers, it delivers an array of services integrated in a client-friendly atmosphere, including:

• substance abuse counseling

This section provides services for refugee and recent entrants through bilingual and culturally competent case management.

The Homeless Program’s goal is to assist homeless individuals and families to reach self-sufficiency. Type of assistance provided includes employment and housing referral; placement in emergency/transitional shelter; intensive case management, family reunification, supportive counseling and bus passes.

Community Action Agency (CAA)
CSBG (Self-Sufficiency Case Management Services)
This program provides self-sufficiency services to residents near or below state poverty level guidelines to help stabilize the family and prevent homelessness. It also provides financial assistance to pay utility bills, rent and mortgage, educational costs, job training costs and child care costs for persons entering the work force. This agency has temporarily relocated. Call the Family Success Center closest to where you live for directions, or contact:
