This Division:

• enforces the Florida Building Code by issuing permits, conducting plan reviews, performing inspections and issuing Certificates of Occupancy for new and existing construction in the unincorporated area of Broward County and in municipalities under interlocal agreement.

• provides for permit issuance, plan reviews and inspections for new elevator construction and issues Certificates of Operation for all elevators and escalators throughout Broward County.

• provides administrative support and interaction to the countywide programs in the Broward County Central Examining Boards, i.e. issuance of trade construction licenses, issuance of citations against unlicensed contractors, investigation of complaints received against licensed contractors, dissemination of information to consumers on contractor licenses via the "Hotline," and issuance of licenses for tree trimmers.
