This section:
• ensures compliance through enforcement of applicable codes and regulations set forth in the Broward County Code of Ordinances as they relate to community standards.
• enforces regulations concerning zoning requirements, landscaping, signs, land clearance, property maintenance, junk vehicles, abandoned property cases, and derelict vessel removal.
• works to accomplish neighborhood revitalization and the enhancement of quality of life through many programs including, but not limited to, education and citizen outreach, online complaint reporting, free paint distribution and neighborhood bicycle patrol.
• serves as the primary agency enforcing neighborhood enhancement plans as part of the Neighborhood Preservation and Enhancement Districts within unincorporated Broward County.

Housing and Community Development conducts regional activities designed to improve communities through administration of Community Development Block Grant Funds. The staff works with unincorporated areas and municipalities to provide such neighborhood improvements as water, sewer and storm drainage systems, parks and multi-purpose centers. Housing and Community Development also works to provide residents with residential rehabilitation assistance. Grants and loans are available to community-based organizations and other developers for impact fees and development costs incurred in the development of affordable housing.

This Department is responsible for developing and implementing an urban redevelopment strategy for Broward County and its partner cities.

This Council deals with the comprehensive and continuing urban planning process for Broward County and its municipalities. It prepares and monitors the Broward County Land Use Plan and the Trafficways Plan, processes amendments to these plans and certifies local government land use plans.

This Division provides a wide range of planning services including preparation of the Broward County Comprehensive Plan. The Division assists with demographic and economic research, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) development. The Division maintains Census and other data for Broward County, and provides assistance to unincorporated neighborhoods on annexation and other issues.

Activities of this Division include long- and short-range highway and transit planning for state and federal aid programs, transportation improvements, and projects programming. Division prepares plans and programs, including traffic and transit studies for the County in support of its capital plan and transportation disadvantaged efforts. Division also provides planning and administrative support for the Metropolitan Planning Organization.
