The South Florida Chapter of the Property Records Education Partnership (PREP), under the Property Records Industry Association (PRIA), recently became a "Founding Chapter," and is looking for members to join our public - private partnership.  The group carries no membership dues to join.

Our next meeting will include a roundtable discussion on the local housing market featuring the following panelists:

• Richard Barkett, CEO, Realtor Association of Greater Fort Lauderdale
• Brian Betzler, Mortgage Banking Director, Wachovia Bank
• Armando Fana, Field Office Director, US Dept. of Housing and Urban Development
• Bill Leonard, Broward County Planning Services Division
• Kris Mazzeo, Broward County Clerk of Court
• Skip Straus, former Vice President Florida Land Title Association,
  and past co-chair, SF-PREP  

Additionally, Polly Cacurak, Operations Manager from the Broward County Revenue Collection Division, will present to our group on the fact and fiction about Tax Certificates and Tax Deeds.

The National Property Records Education Partners (PREP) has been designated a Property Records Industry Association (PRIA) Work Group by Resolution of the PRIA Board of Directors. The specific charge given to the PREP is to provide a structure to improve local working relationships, open/enhance lines of communication and expand education opportunities for property records industry participants at the local level.

Some objectives / benefits of membership include:

• Improve communication between industry stakeholders
• Facilitate recordation and access to public property records
• Formulate and disseminate model standards, systems and procedures
• Encourage adoption of model standards
• Track relevant proposed legislation to facilitate appropriate input
• Initiate and lead development of technical standards
• Establish and lead education programs for all sectors of the industry
• Preserve the integrity of public property records

The meeting will be held at the Anne Kolb Nature Center, 751 Sheridan Street, Hollywood, FL 33019, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.  (Refreshments from 8:30 - 9:00 a.m.)

April 16, 2008, 8:30 a.m. - 12 noon, Anne Kolb Nature Center

DIRECTIONS:

From points North take I-95 South, exit on SR-822/Sheridan Street Exit #21, take the East street ramp, turn left onto Sheridan Street/FL-822 E.

From points South take I-95 North, exit on SR-822/Sheridan Street Exit #21, take the East street ramp, turn right onto Sheridan Street/FL-822 E.

Continue east to 751 Sheridan Street.  The entrance to Anne Kolb Nature Center will be on the North side. After parking, walk over to the Mangrove Hall which is the large building to the left, and slightly to the rear, of the Nature Center complex.
