Broward County Commissioner John Rodstrom (right) presents a proclamation to Broward County Transit Bus Operator Roderick Rule. Mr. Rule was chosen as the 2007 Transit hero for going above and beyond the call of duty on June 11, 2007, when he notified the operations dispatch unit that a suspected rapist just de-boarded his bus. Rule recognized the suspect as he was exiting the bus, and he quickly decided to take a photo from him camera phone. His quick actions led to Kaplan's arrest and imprisonment. October 2007 |
