Program Description

Construction
The Seaport Construction & Planning Division consists of a staff of design and construction professionals, that direct the planning, design and construction process for new and renovated Port facilities and infrastructure. The Division supports the Port Everglades Department with projects that range from conceptual planning to construction completion, delivery, and turnover.

Projects at Port Everglades begin with tenant or market driven needs that develop from the Port Administration and Operations Divisions, and evolve into conceptual plans and designs.  Once projects are funded, the plans are typically turned over to the Port’s consultants who develop construction documents for large scale projects and in house staff for small scale projects.  When construction documents are ready, the project managers continue with the procurement of contractors and ultimate construction of the project.  The end goal is to deliver to the Port’s users a project that serves their needs in the time frames established for completion.

Planning
The Seaport Construction and Planning Division is responsible for the development and implementation of planning projects and studies for the Department of Port Everglades.

The Division provides professional expertise and oversight for the development, coordination and management of short-term and long-term planning and growth management projects for the Department of Port Everglades, which includes the 2020 Vision Master Plan. Additionally, the Division coordinates and assists in the development of various grant applications as well as identification of funding sources pertaining to the implementation of strategic priorities based on the Capital Improvement Program for the Department of Port Everglades.
