MISSION STATEMENT

We strive to do our best to serve the residents and driving public of Broward County and are responsible for the maintenance of the County road system including:

  • Bridge Maintenance/Rehabilitation
  • Cleaning and Mowing of Rights-Of-Way
  • Canal Bank Maintenance
  • Concrete Curb and Gutter
  • Guardrail Maintenance and Replacement
  • Hurricane Recovery - Roadway Clearance
  • Intersection Improvements - Turn Lanes - ADA
  • Resurfacing
  • Sidewalk Repair/Replacement
  • Storm Water Drainage Installation
  • Street Patching
  • Street Sweeping
  • Swale Restoration
  • Tree Trimming

We are responsible for minor road construction projects which are accomplished with Broward County forces and we coordinate and supervise the services of various contractors engaged in the maintenance of the County Road System.

The Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division operates and maintains three Bascule or Draw Bridges over the New River in downtown Fort Lauderdale and 83 Fixed Bridges throughout the County.

A few interesting statistics of county assets:

  • 1,252 lane miles of asphalt roadway
  • 8,309 catch basins (drainage structures)
  • 5,550 linear feet of guardrail
