Pavement Markings

What are pavement markings? This can include but not limited to lane lines (dividing two lanes of travel), skip lines, stop bars, traffic calming markings, channelization, crosswalks, raised pavement marking (RPM's), directional arrows, tubular delineators (4' plastic tube that channelize), bike lanes, pavement messages and legends.

Broward County currently uses three different methods for the installation of pavement markings. They are paint, striping tape and/or thermo plastic material.

There are always questions regarding the installation of crosswalks. We only install crosswalks at designated safe walk routes and at signalized intersections.
Long term programs include but are not limited to the following:

  • "SCHOOL" messages
  • Resurfacing projects

We also coordinate with the Signal Section to install or upgrade pavement markings when a new signal is installed.
