Great American Cleanup
Broward County’s Adopt-A-Street Program is a registered participant in the Great American Cleanup, the largest annual community improvement program in the country. The Great American Cleanup (GAC) is one of Keep America Beautiful’s many programs that encourage people to care for communities through volunteer participation.
Broward County’s Adopt-A-Street Program locally promotes the Great American Cleanup and will celebrate this year with the GREAT AMERICAN CLEANUP 2006: "SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT."
Volunteers can take part in the following events:
March 4- Marine Industries Association of South Florida’s Waterway Cleanup, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., Adopt-A-Street location at Wheelabrator (S.R. 441 and Orange Drive)
March 11– Boulevard Gardens Community Cleanup, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Volunteers will meet at the corner of N.W. 27 Terrace and 4 St. in Fort Lauderdale.
April 1 – Broadview Park Community Cleanup, 8:30 a.m. - noon, Sunview Park (main pavilion), Fort Lauderdale.
April 22 – Earth Day Clean Sweep, Deerfield Beach , 9 a.m.- 1 p.m.
April 29 –Roosevelt Gardens Community Cleanup. 9 a.m. -2 p.m. (call for meeting location).
Through the Adopt-A-Street Program, last year 1,052 local volunteers from schools and community groups collected almost 60,000 pounds of litter from Broward County’s streets and communities.
