P&CCD'S MISSION STATEMENT
The Project and Community Coordination Division is
dedicated to ensuring that in collaboration with the intended recipients,
community needs are addressed when providing water resources, wastewater
management and environmental engineering services for infrastructure
development through the provision of public information, public relations and
complaint resolution assistance for property owners residing in the
Neighborhood Improvement Program Areas.
Comprehensive Infrastructure Improvements Underway
The Neighborhood Improvement Program (NIP)
represents a huge undertaking for Water & Wastewater Services and the
first of its kind in size and scope in residential areas in Broward County. The
NIP is being implemented in 25 neighborhoods in the Southern, Central and
Northern Regions of Broward County. Estimated to cost in excess of $636
million, consisting of more than 66 bid packages, the NIP will address the
shortcomings in the water supply systems and deficient drainage conditions in
each respective neighborhood by providing new and improved water and drainage
systems, replacing outdated septic tanks with new sewage collection and
transmission systems, improving the appearance, vehicular and pedestrian
traffic conditions in these areas by providing new road pavement, swales, sod,
landscaping, sidewalks and neighborhood signs.
The NIP began in 1996 in
the South County Unincorporated areas of Carver Ranches, Utopia and Miami
Gardens to include Lake Forest. The NIP is continuing today in North Andrews
Gardens Neighborhood, in the North -County Areas of Broadview Estates/Broadview
Park, Cresthaven/Collier Manor, to ultimately include the Pompano Beach
Highlands, Pompano Estates/Tedder and Kendall Green/Leisureville areas, and in
the Central County area of Melrose Park to ultimately encompass, Riverland
Village, Broward Estates, St. George, Washington Park, Franklin Park, Boulevard
Gardens, West Ken Lark, Rock Island and Roosevelt Gardens and Broadview Park.
The current planning schedule projects completion of the program in its
entirety by the year 2011, given no unforeseen delays.
