Question: What are the expectations for the Consolidated Regional System for October 1?

Answer: All calls will be answered and dispatched, all civilian employees from existing Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) that perform call-taking, teletype (queries only), dispatching functions will be offered a job and will be under one single operator with responsibility for supervision and compensation.


Question: What are the anticipated Consolidated Regional System PSAP locations?

Answer: The anticipated Consolidated Regional PSAP locations are Coconut Creek, Pembroke Pines and Sunrise.


Question: What happens to the existing PSAP locations?

Answer: Existing PSAP locations that elect to join the Consolidated Regional System will be incorporated into the Coconut Creek, Pembroke Pines or Sunrise location. The attached map illustrates the proposed PSAP locations post-consolidation. The municipalities with PSAPs that are not part of the Consolidated Regional System will determine the future use of these facilities.


Question: Has an operator of the Consolidated Regional System been determined?

Answer: The County anticipates the Broward Sheriff’s Office will provide this service on behalf of the County under a performance contract.


Question: Will Broward County be involving the existing PSAPs in the development of the Consolidated Regional System?

Answer: Yes. Broward County has created an Operations Implementation/Planning Workgroup that includes subject matter experts for each existing PSAP location. The purpose of the Operations Implementing/Planning Workgroup is to assist Broward County with the development of the Consolidated Regional System. The workgroup will provide input on the standard operating procedures, protocols and measurements.


Question: Will all PSAPs be following the same Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Answer: Yes. The Operations Implementation/Planning Workgroup will be responsible for developing the SOPs for the Consolidated Regional System.


Question: Will employees be cross trained on call-take, fire and police dispatch and teletype (queries only)?

Answer: The Operations Implementation/Planning Workgroup will be developing recommendations for the operations of the Consolidated Regional System. The workgroup will be addressing the training requirements.


Question: Some municipalities dispatch based on closet available rescue unit. How will the new system affect dispatching for fire rescue?

Answer: The Operations Implementation/Planning Workgroup will develop recommendations for the operations of the Consolidated Regional System. The workgroup will address dispatching of closet available rescue unit and how zones will be dispatched.
