Dr. Isamí Ayala-Collazo

Professional Background

Dr. Isamí Ayala-Collazo was named Assistant County Administrator in August 2025 and has nearly 25 years of public administration experience at state, county and local levels of government.

Prior to joining Broward County, she held a dual role as Assistant County Administrator and Director of the Facilities Development and Operations department for Palm Beach County. Before moving to South Florida, she served as the Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer for the Department of General Services in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Dr. Ayala-Collazo's background is multifaceted; she is a professional engineer, an attorney, and a doctor in public administration. Much of her experience and expertise is in managing large-scale capital improvement projects, performing every phase of project management for multiple, multi-million-dollar projects. Her engineering and project management background and experience will be a tremendous asset to Broward County as we embark on some major capital projects, such as the forensic science center, emergency operations and communications center, and a new governmental center.
