Sandy-Michael McDonald

Sandy-Michael McDonald was named Assistant County Administrator for Broward County in August 2025.​ ​


Professional Background

McDonald has been with the County since 2013, most recently serving as Director of the Office of Economic and Small Business Development (OESBD). McDonald is renowned for the success of his expansive economic development vision for all of Broward County, comprised of 31 municipalities plus the Broward Municipal Services District (BMSD) and home to nearly two million residents and more than 85,000 businesses.

As a designated Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Liaison Officer, McDonald also worked in support of the County's commitment to the federal Disadvantaged Business Enterprise and Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise programs. These programs are administered by OESBD ensuring women and minority-owned businesses are considered equitably on Department of Transportation projects and national airport contracts nationwide. 

McDonald excels at reinterpreting the challenges facing businesses as opportunities to maximize the potential to educate, innovate, grow new employment avenues, and encourage collaboration among community partners and institutions of higher learning. The result is a perpetual renewing of people, organizations, and communities that improve the quality of life for all Broward County residents.
