Air Toxics Program
pumping gas into car

Air Toxics are poisonous substances in the air that can come from natural or man-made sources, and can be harmful to the environment and your health. An example of a natural toxic air pollutant is radon gas coming up from the ground, while an example of a man-made air toxic would be chemical compounds given off by a factory smokestack. Inhaling toxic air pollutants can increase your chances of experiencing health problems. For instance, if you inhale the benzene fumes that are given off when you pump gas into your car, your chances of experiencing health problems associated with exposure to benzene will increase.
