South Runway Expansion Project

Relocated trees on airport property. 1,369 relocated trees that will preserves mature canopy for shade and air purification.
Recycled pavement from old runway. 1,621 less dump trucks hauling material to the site (each truck holds 30 cubic yards).
Reduced emissions by reducing truck trips transporting fill material to site (accomplish by transporting via rail or reducing quantity required by at least 25%). 26,736 less dump trucks hauling material to the site.
Erosion control measures implemented during construction. 720 tons of soil prevented from entering waterways at 7.2 to over 1,000 tons/acre/year for construction activities.
Installed taxiway edge Light Emitting Diode (LED) lamps replacing incandescent lamps. 44,511 KWH: Total Energy Consumption Reduction per Year.
Installed MSE Wall LED lights. 11,491 KWH: Total Energy Consumption Reduction per Year.
Installed runway guard LED lights. 79,065 KWH: Total Energy Consumption Reduction per Year.
Installed windcones LED lights. 14,971 KWH: Total Energy Consumption Reduction per Year.
Solar power LED flashers on barricades. 585 6-volt Batteries Not Needed per Month.
Room in runway structures for a bike lane along Perimeter Road and US 1. Also along NE 7th Avenue, and NE 10th Street. Allows for safe travel by bicycles as an alternative to vehicular travel.
Installed solar powered cameras. 1,226 KWH: Total Energy Consumption Reduction per Year 

West Lake Park Wetland Mitigation

Erosion control along the shore banks. .9 miles of erosion control measures for long term reduction in soil entering waterways.
Essential habitat protection. 38 tons of soil prevented from entering waterways at 7.2 to over 1,000 tons/acre/year for construction activities.
Invasive plant species removed 15.9 acres of seed source reduction for the spread of invasives.
