New Shuttle Bus Fleet

Issued: July 1, 2020
FLL20-07-39L                         Revision: N/A

The Fort-Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is adding a new shuttle bus fleet in 2020. The 48 new 40-foot shuttles with a blue exterior have comfortable fabric seats and large luggage racks. They are equipped with wheelchair ramps, an automated announcement system, and have the ability to kneel to meet the American with Disabilities Act or ADA accessibility requirements. Additionally, shuttles are equipped with technology to include an onboard camera surveillance system for increased security. The new fleet is powered by a Cummins L9 engine with heavy-duty components and performance characteristics with increased fuel economy and longer maintenance intervals. The vehicles use ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel which provides lower exhaust emissions. Social distancing banners have been placed on every other seat and hand sanitizer units have been installed in all shuttles.

Weight Restriction on Upper Level "Departure" Roadway

Issued: June 8, 2020
FLL20-06-36L
Revision: N/A

The Broward County Aviation Department (BCAD) has recently completed a review/maintenance program on the departure (upper) level roadway structure that fronts Terminals 2, 3, and 4. Following this work, it has been recommended that vehicles utilizing the departure (upper) level roadway be restricted to less than 17 tons. New signage with this restriction will be installed during the week of June 8 along all main roadways leading to
the departure (upper) level roadway. As a result, large charter buses, including those frequently used by cruise passenger transfer operators will need to utilize the lower level for both drop-off and pick-up of passengers. BCAD’s ground transportation operations plan is being updated accordingly.
