Our Mission:

The purpose of the Broward County Animal Care Volunteer Program to bring people together with a common goal of improving the lives of animals outside the shelter. Out four pillars of service are: community animal care, equitable services, public safety, and world-class shelter operations.

General Information:

  • You must be at least 16 years old.
  • You must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Groups who are interested in volunteering their time, must contact the Volunteer Coordinator at animalcarevolunteer@broward.org.​
  • PLEASE NOTE: We do not fulfill court-ordered community service hours.

Volunteer Roles:

Volunteering with Broward Animal Care is a great way to give back and earn student hours, job experience or to simply get your steps in.
  • Dog Walker
  • Cat Enrichment Assistant
  • Dog Enrichment Assistant
  • Event/Outreach Volunteer
  • Lobby Greeter/Kennel Concierge
  • Clinic/Surgery Suite Assistant
  • Data/Social Media Team
  • Fostering Neonatal Kittens​

Student Community Service Hours (for students age 14 or older)

Students who are at least 14 years old, can currently earn up to 40 hours of Community Service in our Foster Care program. Please refer to our Foster Page for information and a Foster Parent Application.
