Be a part of TATE’S 2014 Not At Comic-Con Indy Comic! The 5th TATE’S Indy Comic Anthology will be printed and given away for FREE during TATE’S Not at Comic-Con 2014 on Saturday, July 26th. As with previous years, we will also have an Artist’s Alley area set up – where contributing artists are welcome to setup and sign copies of the comic during the event.

Exhibition Grants – Terra Foundation for American Art
In recognition of the importance of experiencing original works of art, the Terra Foundation for American Art supports exhibitions that enlarge the understanding and appreciation of historical American art made between 1500 and 1980. To be eligible, institutions must have 501(c)(3) status or the international equivalent. Grants are not made to individuals.

Design your own show for FAT Village Artwalk – World and Eye Arts Center – Fort Lauderdale
World and Eye Arts Center is offering an opportunity to design and hang work in the vibrant artist community in FAT Village during the artwalk on August 30th. For August only there is a discount on exhibition rentals making the rental price $400 for the entire space. So gather a group or have a solo show! Include JPEGs or websites for all artists involved, the name and theme of the show and your contact information with your proposal.

3rd Annual “Rock United” – United Way of Broward County – Fort Lauderdale
The Young Leaders Society of United Way of Broward County will host the 3rd Annual “Rock United,” a Battle of the Bands for community members. Eight to ten bands will be able to partake in this exciting competition! Each band can play up to three songs or a 15 minute set. This is a great opportunity to play your best cover songs. All proceeds from the event will go directly to United Way of Broward County’s community initiatives and services for those in need.

flag: new item Spring 2015 Artist Residencies — Ucross Foundation — Ucross, Wyoming
Founded in 1981, the Ucross Foundation provides uninterrupted time, work space, and living accommodations to competitively selected visual artists, writers, dancers and composers. The foundation is accepting applications for its 2015 Spring Residency program, which runs from late-February to mid-June. Residencies vary in length from two weeks to six weeks. Artists, writers, and composers from the United States and around the globe in any stage of their professional careers are invited to apply.

The National YoungArts Foundation provides emerging artists (between the ages of 15 and 18 or in grades 10-12) with opportunities to work with renowned mentors, access to significant scholarships, national recognition, and other opportunities to help ensure that the nation’s most outstanding young artists are encouraged to pursue a career in the arts. Each year up to seven hundred students are selected from across the country as national winners. Each winner will receive a grant of up to $10,000, have the opportunity to attend YoungArts programs, and partake in master classes with internationally renowned artists, workshops, interdisciplinary activities, performances, and exhibitions.

International Physical Theatre Laboratory 2014 Scholarships – ArtUniverse
The Lab is open to performers from different creative genres and techniques inspired by Physical Theatre as a bold, vibrant and multidimensional approach to contemporary theatre performance. The Lab offers intensive practical training, lectures and discussions with the Russian theatre director and teacher Sergei Ostrenko and the program of IUGTE International Conference in Carrara – Tuscany, Italy. ArtUniverse Scholarships grants cover up to 300,00 EUR (three hundred) of the total participation fee.

Community Engagement Manager – Feeding South Florida (FSF) – Pembroke Park
The primary objective of this position is to raise funds towards FSF’s operating budget, and increase awareness of Feeding South Florida through the effective management of special events, volunteers, and sort functions. The CEM is responsible for the creation, planning, and expansion of a variety of external and internal events including but not limited to an annual signature event, quarterly events, monthly networking opportunities, third-party events, donor recognition receptions, and internal events such as sort and community service days.

Volunteer Sort Coordinator – Feeding South Florida (FSF) – Pembroke Park
The primary objective of the Volunteer Sort Coordinator (VSC) is to work with volunteers to ensure they have a meaningful experience while simultaneously ensuring donated product is sorted and gleaned in a timely and efficient manner for the distribution throughout FSF's network of partner agencies (PAs). The VSC is one of the most visible representatives of FSF and therefore must ensure excellent customer service, even while ensuring that waste is avoided, in conjunction with understanding the capacity of PAs, policies and guidelines of FSF; Feeding America; Florida Department of Agriculture; and Department of Health as they relate to the handling and distribution of product.

Proposals for InLight 2014 – 1708 Gallery – Richmond, VA
Organized by 1708 Gallery, InLight Richmond is a public exhibition of light-based art and performances. Over 6 years, 1708's InLight has featured 169 local, national and international artists and artist collectives across some of Richmond's most unique neighborhoods and sites and has engaged over 25,000 visitors. Artists are invited to submit proposals for InLight 2014 including, but not limited to, interactive projects, large-format projections, sculpture and performances that will engage this dynamic site. Awards range from $1500-300.

Art for Healing Project – Moore Medical Center – Oklahoma City, OK
Art for Healing is an inspirational tribute to honor courage and caring. Care givers, patients and their families will encounter exceptional public artwork that represents the community’s resilience at the new Moore Medical Center. The center will commission public artwork and place it both outside and inside the new facility to symbolize “moving forward,” “hope for the future,” innovation, protection, strength and endurance. The project budget is $300,000.

Request for Qualifications – Artwork Commemorating Maggie L. Walker – Richmond, VA
The City of Richmond Public Art Commission seeks to commission an artist to create outdoor public art commemorating Maggie L. Walker. Walker devoted her life to civil rights advancement, economic empowerment, and educational opportunities for Jim Crow-era African Americans and women. The commission encourages both representational and abstract artists to apply. The budget for the completed and installed artwork is up to $300,000.

The temporary public art program is accepting applications for the 2014-15 exhibition (Sept – August). The six (6) works selected for this public art exhibition will be on loan to the City for a period of eleven months (11) and can be available for sale during that time. Each artist will receive a $1000 stipend and at the conclusion of the exhibition a work or works from the exhibition may be purchased for inclusion in the City of Auburn’s permanent collection. The purchase budget is $10,000.

Monroe County Art in Public Places (AIPP) is a county appointed committee responsible for the commission and purchase of art by contemporary artists in any media. Artists must substantiate successful completion of contracts and projects within the past 10 years in the public and/or private sector. Once an artist has been Qualified (in step 1) they are notified of all opportunities to complete a Request for Proposals.

The City of Ocala in partnership with the Appleton Museum of Art, Fine Arts For Ocala, and Marion Cultural Alliance is issuing a "Call to Artists" for the second annual OCALA Outdoor Sculpture Competition at Tuscawilla Park. The competition is open to all artists age 18 and older who are working in North America. Each artist may submit up to three sculptures. Artists will compete for cash awards ranging from $500-2000. The 10 sculptors whose works are chosen will each receive a $1000 honorarium.

flag: new item The Devil in the Straight Line Juried Show — International Encaustic Artists (IEA) — Miami, FL
This open juried show, entitled 'The Devil in the Straight Line,' is inspired by Austrian Friedensreich Hundertwasser, one of the best-known late 20th century artists. Hundertwasser's approach has been described as 'Gegen die gerade Linie', against the straight line. The juror will be Henning Haupt, a Florida-based German artist and educator. All 2D and 3D encaustic work, including artist books, is eligible. All selected artists' work must be for sale. 70% of the selling price will go to the artist. 20% of the selling price goes to Bakehouse Art Complex and 10% goes to IEA. The entry fee includes up to 3 artworks, but up to 3 additional artworks can be submitted for $5 each.

10th Annual Art Competition – City of Pembroke Pines
Applications are currently being accepted for The City of Pembroke Pines Recreation and Cultural Arts Department 10th Annual Art Competition. Artists must submit an application, with a photograph of the art work entered. The total number of pieces entered may not exceed three pieces. Winning artists receive cash prizes in the following categories at the 10th Annual Art Competition reception: Best of Show $500.00, Festival Poster $200.00, Best Photography $200.00, Best Painting $200.00, Best Mixed Media $200.00, Best Sculpture $200.00, Best Watercolors $200.00 and Best Digital Art $200.00.

The 33rd annual Smithsonian Craft Show (2015) application is now open for business. The annual Smithsonian Craft Show is a juried exhibition and sale of contemporary American crafts and design. Artists are selected on the basis of the originality, artistic conception, and quality of their work. Cash awards are also distributed for outstanding work and range from $500–1500. The Show does not charge sales commissions. However, accepted artists are encouraged to donate an item for the Craft Show’s on-line auction, raffle, or other fund-raising initiatives, proceeds of which benefit the Smithsonian's education, outreach and research programs.

The Florida Book Awards kicks off its ninth annual competition with a call for entries in nine categories: General Fiction, Young Adult Literature, Children’s Literature, Florida Nonfiction, Poetry, Popular Fiction, Visual Arts, Spanish Language Book and General Nonfiction.
